The primary purpose of VSHBreeders.org is to provide an on-line forum
for prospective founders of an organization whose main objective would
be to improve and disseminate various honey bee lines/types that
express the VSH trait and that perform well economically under a
limited to non-treatment management scenario. The on-line forum will
provide an arena for discussion about the formation of a VSH Breeders
organization. It would also host discussions about VSH
expression in honey bees, breeding and selecting quality honey bees,
and methods and techniques used in bee breeding.

General discussions are open to a registered membership, although guests
may browse but not post to the general discussion boards. Involvement
in the VSH Breeders organization discussion is through invitation and is
based on prior historical use of VSH Breeding stock in a breeding program,
or involvement in the selection for VSH traits in honey bees.
VSHBreeders.org will also provide content and links on the history and
research to-date of VSH expression in honey bees and the use of VSH in
honey bee breeding programs. A separate discussion board will be devoted
to classifieds for items appropriate to bee breeding.

Through discussion and interaction on VSHBreeders.org, honey bee breeders
and queen producers hope to create a thoughtful methodology to preserve and propagate
the genetic combinations that make quality honey bee queens that will stand up to their current
dynamic habitat while they head productive colonies.

This on-line forum will host discussions about VSH expression in honey bees, breeding and selecting quality honey bees and methods/techniques used in bee breeding. Breeders and beekeepers interested in selecting honey bees to perform well are invited to participate. Although VSH has not been disseminated world-wide, selecting and breeding for hardy honey bees is occurring world-wide and faced with the challenges today's honey bees have, all bee breeders/beekeepers are welcome to contribute here.

The forum will focus on selection for honey bees that may be managed sustainably either in non-treated populations or populations managed with limited treatments/IPM.

VSHBreeders.org will also provide content and links on the history and research to-date of VSH expression in honey bees and the use of VSH in honey bee breeding programs. A separate discussion board will be devoted to stock-trading, and a classifieds for items appropriate to bee breeding.
